Sunburn on Thuja plicata trunk

Trunk burned from sun because trees were removed on the sunset side. Cover to protect.

hook girdled branch bark

It can be better to thread a hook into wood beneath, than wrap a hook over like this.

Bronze Birch borer holes in trunk

Evidence of bronze birch borers are the "D" shaped holes in the trunk and stems.

Included bark between trunk stems

When bark enfolds, called included bark, the union can get weaker each year.

Deadwood stub sticking out of trunk

If stubs are left, wood can't close-over right away. And why hands-off is not best.
