Redwoods in Stout Grove

Catacombs grove

Redwood National and State Parks

Let me introduce you to the Catacombs in Redwood National and State Parks. Found a short distance from Orick, CA, the summer of 2014.

The inspiration for the name stems from a bunch of decayed cavities collaping underfoot as we bushwhacked our way through here. A valley with countless pockets of hidden decomposition. I refer to the entire valley as The Catacombs.

Chris Atkins gives a sense of size and scale. One more of the coast redwoods we encountered during the year of discovery.

This redwood and another near it remind me of two Sequoia sempervirens in Redwood National Park I sometimes refer to as the Twin Towers which are a stone's throw from Helios.
